Here for you: National Redress Scheme support

Many people know Link-Up (Qld) for our work reuniting families and supporting healing, but did you know we also provide free support for people applying to the National Redress Scheme?

The National Redress Scheme was established following the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse and provides recognition, support, and accountability for those who experienced abuse in places such as churches, missions, orphanages, or foster homes. Redress can include counselling, a financial payment, and a direct apology from the institution responsible.

Applications to the National Redress Scheme must be lodged before 30 June 2027. This allows time for the Operator to make a determination on an application before the Scheme ends on 30 June 2028.

For many, applying to the Scheme is an important step in their healing journey, but it can also feel overwhelming. That’s why Link-Up (Qld)’s Redress Support Team is here to provide practical and emotional help from start to finish.

Jai, one of our Redress Counsellors, explains:

“The process can be challenging. That’s why our team provides practical and emotional support throughout the entire process. There’s no shame in telling your story. We’re here to listen and support you every step of the way.”

Our support is free, confidential, and culturally safe. We can help you understand the Scheme, complete your application, and connect you with free legal and financial counselling if you need it. Our team is specially trained to support people who have lived through institutional child sexual abuse, including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

Evidence shows that applications lodged with specialist support are more likely to achieve better outcomes. On average, payment outcomes are 11% higher when people have the guidance of trained services like ours.

If you are considering applying, or are unsure if you’re eligible, you don’t have to face the process alone. To learn more, contact Link-Up (Qld) on 1800 200 855 or visit Redress support page. You can also call the National Redress Scheme directly on 1800 737 377.
