Link-Up (Qld) welcomes Kazdan Fabila to the team!
If you’ve visited the Link-Up (Qld) Brisbane office or phoned through in recent months, chances are you’ve already spoken with Kazdan Fabila. Since April this year, Kazdan has been the welcoming voice and smiling face greeting clients and community at the front desk.
Kazdan’s family heritage is rich and diverse. She is from the Jabirr Jabirr people of the Kimberley in Western Australia and also carries Papua New Guinean ancestry along with other cultural backgrounds. “Whenever people ask, I usually just say Aboriginal and Papua New Guinea,” she says with a smile, keeping her introduction simple while remaining proud of where she comes from.
Joining Link-Up (Qld) only a couple of months after finishing high school in 2024, Kazdan stepped into her role with enthusiasm. She answers calls and emails, manages reception tasks, and ensures everyone who reaches out feels supported from the very beginning.
What she enjoys most about her work is seeing community come together.
“Our client morning teas are my favourite. Watching clients catch up and spend time together is just really sweet to see every time.”
Those moments, she says, remind her of the importance of connection.

In her short time with the organisation, Kazdan has already made memories that stand out. The staff retreat gave her the chance to build strong relationships with colleagues, while NAIDOC Day at Musgrave Park was another highlight. Helping out with activities and interviewing people for one of Link-Up (Qld)’s video projects gave her the chance to experience culture and community in a hands-on way.
Kazdan also speaks with sincerity about the heart of Link-Up (Qld)’s work:
“It’s important to help Stolen Generations survivors and descendants because these people are still, after all this time, dealing with the trauma and still haven’t found their way home. Reconnecting them with their family, culture and country can help bring that peace of mind for them.” – Kazdan Fabila
Though only at the beginning of her career, Kazdan has quickly become an important part of our Brisbane office. Her warmth, pride in culture and genuine care for people shine through in every interaction, and we’re delighted to have her on the team.
