Link-Up (Qld) provides a free support service for applicants of the National Redress Scheme.
About the Scheme
The National Redress Scheme was established by the Australian Government in response to one of the key recommendations of the Royal Commission into Institutional Responses to Child Sexual Abuse. Applications can be made any time before 30 June 2027.
The Scheme acknowledges that many children were sexually abused in Australian institutions and seeks to hold institutions to account. It helps people who have experienced abuse gain access to:
- Counselling and psychological care
- A direct personal response in apology
- A redress payment
Eligibility Checklist
To apply for redress, you must:
- Have experienced institutional child sexual abuse before 1 July 2018
- Be aged over 18, or will turn 18 before 30 June 2028
- Be an Australian citizen or permanent resident
