The Link-Up (Qld) team has been out and about this week, participating in NAIDOC celebrations across Queensland. This year’s theme, “Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud, and Proud,” deeply resonates with us and the work we do.

Held from 7-14 July 2024, NAIDOC Week is a time to honour the rich history, culture, and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This year’s theme honours the unbreakable spirit of Indigenous cultures, represented by a bright flame that unites us all.

At Link-Up (Qld), we’re committed to reconnecting Stolen Generation survivors and their descendants with their families, country and cultural heritage. The theme of “keeping the fire burning” fits our purpose perfectly, as we work hard to ensure the cultural ‘flame’ of our people remains bright and strong among current and future generations.

One of the highlights of our week was attending the Musgrave Park Family Fun Day in South Brisbane. This significant event brings together thousands of people to celebrate Indigenous culture through music, dance, food, and a variety of family-friendly activities. It’s a vibrant reminder of the importance of community and cultural pride.

Participating in NAIDOC Week events has reinforced the importance of our work and our commitment to promoting cultural pride and unity. We stand together proudly to amplify Indigenous voices and celebrate our people’s significant contributions to Australia’s shared national identity.
