On Thursday, 28 November 2024, Link-Up (Qld) proudly commemorated its 40th Anniversary with a Gala Dinner at the iconic Brisbane City Hall. This sold-out event brought together a diverse group of attendees, including Stolen Generations survivors, their families, community leaders, and supporters, to celebrate four decades of supporting healing and reunification.
The evening was a resounding success, featuring powerful storytelling, heartfelt performances, and the opportunity to reflect on Link-Up (Qld)’s incredible journey. The program included a moving tribute to the late Sam Watson, inspiring video stories from Bruce Midson, Aunty Angelique Wittwer and Samuel Songoa, Uncle Roy Gray, Uncle John Stanley, and a look ahead at the organisation’s future.
The atmosphere was further enriched by outstanding musical performances from Gling & the Huntsmen, Suga Cane Mamas, and Edgar Conlon. Our MCs, Tahj Minniecon and Latia Schefe, brought a personal touch to the evening by sharing their insights as dedicated Link-Up (Qld) team members.
Special guest Shannan Dodson, CEO of the Healing Foundation, delivered an inspiring address, highlighting the importance of continued collaboration and support for Stolen Generations survivors and their descendants. The night concluded with a collective sense of hope and optimism for the future of Link-Up (Qld) and its work.
We thank everyone who joined us for this very special occasion and helped make it such a memorable milestone in our journey. Together, we celebrated the strength, resilience, and spirit of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities we serve.
