Vision Statement

Link-Up (QLD) Aboriginal Corporation exists to enhance the life of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people by reuniting those over the age of eighteen years who have experienced enforced separation from their families and communities through adoption, fostering, removal and institutionalisation.

We will provide our service in a sensitive, confidential and culturally appropriate manner and use all available resources to assist those looking to find their family of origin.

Financial Reports

The principle activity of the association during a financial year is:

The reuniting of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people over the age of 18 who have been separated from their families and communities through adoption, fostering, removal or institutionalisation.

The association is considered financially and operationally viable, with a substantial increase in the number of clients being serviced and the number of reunions being achieved. Operational funding has increased by $122,779 or 14.7% in the past year and is being used, in part, to establish a network of serviced offices in the rgions and remote areas of Queensland for inproved service delivery.

Link-Up staff have received increased levels of training and education in the improvement of client services; their high level performance and assistance to clients is greatly appreciated.

Policies and Procedures

The Policies and Procedures draft is a template from Queensland Aboriginal and Islander Health Council (QAIHC), made available to the Governing Committee, Management and Staff of LINK-UP (QLD) as part of QAIHC's program of assistance for the smooth and efficient set-up of an Aboriginal community controlled service in Brisbane and surrounding area.

BTH & Link-Up Counsellors' Manual

The Bringing Them Home (BTH) and Link Up Counselling Program is an Australian Government funded initiative which supports Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples separated from their families as a result of past governments’ forced removal policies and practices. The practices include removal policies, institutionalisation and through adoption or foster care.

This Handbook is a reference tool for all BTH and Link Up Counsellors. It sets out the Australian Government’s requirements of how services should be provided, and will help ensure BTH and Link Up Counselling services around Australia meet a consistent standard, across all jurisdictions.

BTH and Link Up Counsellors, their Coordinators or Managers and other staff members within their services should use the Handbook to ensure the services they provide are in line with the Government’s requirements.

The Funding Agreement signed between the Department of Health and Ageing (DoHA) State or Territory Office (STO) and the service which incorporates the BTH and Link Up Counsellors sets out the requirements for each party. All Funding Agreements include a reference to this Handbook and require BTH and Link Up Counselling Program service providers to comply with the mandatory requirements of this Handbook.
