FESTIVALS
Link-Up (Qld) staff members attend festivals and events to promote Link-Up services to the general public and to make aware the circumstances surrounding the Stolen Generation.
THE DREAMING FESTIVAL 2009

Link-Up (Qld) made representation at the Dreaming Festival, Woodford to give out information on our services and to talk with and meet with a wider community. This year we also had representatives from The Kimberley Stolen Generations Link-Up service out of Broome W.A. who also assisted us throughout the long weekend. A lot of interest was generated from people visiting from other countries including Germany, Italy, Israel, Jamaica, Eygpt and France. Most had seen Mr Kevin Rudd's Apology on their countries' TV news services and were sympathetic to the plight of the Stolen Generations.
HEALTH CHECK DAYS
Link-Up (Qld) staff members attended Health Check Days in Bundaberg hosted by Indigenous Health Services, Bundaberg Hospital and in Maroochydore and Gympie hosted by the North Coast Aboriginal Corporation for Community Health (NCACCH). Staff manned information stalls promoting Link-Up services and networking with other Indigenous and non Indigenous organisations. The days provided immunisation for the flu as well as other general health checks.

THE FIRST ANNIVERSARY OF THE APOLOGY

Link-Up (Qld) in association with the Queensland Parliament (Mr Brett Nutley), Musgrave Park Community Centre (Mssrs Natalie Alberts & Trevarne Wighton) and the Stolen Generations Alliance (Ms Gillian Branigan) hosted an event to mark the First Anniversary of the Apology on Friday, the 13th February 2009 at Jagera Arts Centre. There was a very good attendance although the inclement weather threatened the event. "The rain poured heavily like the tears of our ancestors." was quoted at the event.

BOOIN GARI CARNIVAL 2009

Booin Gari - Come This Way is in it's second year and is hosted by United Synergies in Tewantin, Sunshine Coast.
The day provides an opportunity for local Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander young people, their families and the wider community to come together for a Murri gathering to celebrate Indigenous culture and history through a range of creative and performance based mediums.
Link-Up (Qld) provided an information stall with give-aways and also presented an information forum in the Booin Gari Cafe to a very interested audience.
NAIDOC 2008

NAIDOC celebrations started on the 28th June 2008 with the official NAIDOC Ball held at the Hilton, Brisbane.
The official launch of NAIDOC Week in SEQ was held at the Southbank Cultural Forecourt, opposite the Queensland Performing Arts Centre, which included displays from Government, Business and Agencies.
Link-Up (Qld) was involved with numerous NAIDOC celebrations including representations at north Brisbane's Koobara Kindy , Eidsvold, Nambour and Gympie, Borallon Correctional Centre, Wacol Youth Detention Centre as well as the main event at Musgrave Park.
The Dreaming Festival, Woodford 6th - 9th June 2008

The Dreaming is a vibrant, exciting and a valuable destination where local, national and international audiences look forward to their annual ceremony time along with the most comprehensive showcase of Indigenous arts from across the country and around the world.

Healing Our Spirits - Camp 2 - Ewen Maddock Dam
Months of planning and organisation culminated in a fantastic weekend escape for LUQ staff, facilitators and clients in the wonderfully peaceful bushland setting of the Ewen Maddock Dam . LUQ clients were offered healing therapies in massage, Tai Chi, vision boarding, lino art, herbal essences & fire, bush tucker, music, laughter, jewellery making, Dadirri and Yarning Circles. The success of the weekend showed noticibly on the radiating faces of the clients who were laughing and smiling on the trip back home. SEWB Counsellor and Camp Coordinator, Helen Bnads with support from LUQ CEO Delma Roe and the LUQ staff and external facilitators produced a weekend of relaxation, togetherness and healing. We'd like to thank all the facilitators and entertainers who assisted ourselves and our clients on this successful journey of healing.
